Achieving Success Together
Michael had just launched a unique interdisciplinary design collaborative in college when RJ came on board. Bringing together their collective vision for the project, this was their first successful business venture. Combining expertise from multiple disciplines enabled them to create something truly special and innovative!
Missouri University of Science and Tech, where they attended, would host job fairs a couple of times a year but the businesses that came were often looking for people with experience and a good resume. Of course, very few of the students had experience, on the contrary, they were looking to Gain experience in order to begin their careers. This is exactly what gave RMQ their first idea for a start-up business. They created a place where students could work on real projects, build real technology and earn real money while still in school and then put that experience on their resume.
During these beginning stages when they wanted to let students know this opportunity existed Michael and RJ presented it to the interdisciplinary engineering class of which Quentin was a student. He said, “that sounds great but it will never work”. Michael & RJ knew right away they needed somebody with his type of perspective on their team to make it a success so they recruited him too!
That's really how it started: trying to give fellow students the opportunity to do real things and use that experience to get to the next step, whatever they might want that to be. Michael, RJ, and then Quentin along with a few other friends were able to help and support each other, give direction to undergraduates, find resources, and create a valuable work experience that would transfer well to a resume.
Strong teams lead to strong businesses and this dynamic continues to show up today in the way they bring their own unique perspectives and talent to the table. It’s clear to anyone who watches them work together that they respect one another like brothers and have each other’s back no matter what the business or project looks like. At the end of the day they are working toward the same goal and that is what has kept them united.
